Welcome to OUTLET

The premise of this newsletter is really simple: each month I share one useful thing with you to help you get better at work or life. It might be a new resource, tool or model, or just something fun or interesting. But always useful, I promise.

That’s why it’s called OUTLET, which stands for One Useful Thing Literally Every Time.

I know your inbox is one of the last remaining sacred spaces where you can still control who’s invited and who is not without an algorithm getting in the way. So I promise to make each monthly email as useful as possible.

G’day, I’m Tim

I'm an optimist, author and advisor who firmly believes in the power of business to do good.

I've co-founded several digital media ventures, most notably Junkee Media, one of the leading digital publishers for young Australians, which was acquired by ASX-listed oOh!media.

My new book, Work Backwards, explores out complicated relationship with work, and how anyone can take advantage of this once-in-a-generations moment to rethink it all. It’s available to buy, read or listen to worldwide.

My first book, Cult Status: How To Build A Business People Adore, was awarded the Best Entrepreneurship and Small Business Book at the 2021 Australian Business Book Awards. My second book on creativity in the workplace, Killer Thinking: How to Turn Good Ideas into Brilliant Ones, was named by Apple Books as one of the best books of the year.

I'm also the Chairman of the Digital Publishers Alliance, a group representing over 150 titles from the leading independent publishers in the country, as well as working with a range of businesses that I'm passionate about.

About all of that, however, I genuinely want to help you learn how to work, and live, better.

Welcome to OUTLET.
